Orion: The Perfect Setting for Wes Anderson-Inspired Magic
At Amazing Spaces, we’re always thrilled to see our locations play a starring role in creative and visually stunning productions. One of our recent highlights is the new commercial for the 2024 Renault Kiger by Baxter Films, shot at our Orion location in Cape Town. Styled in the quirky and whimsical aesthetic reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s iconic films, the ad is a vibrant celebration of colour, symmetry, and cinematic beauty.
The commercial opens with various scenes shot at Orion, a location that seamlessly transforms into a boutique hotel, styled in a way that channels the spirit of Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. The location’s clean lines, sophisticated design, and versatility made it the perfect backdrop for the bright hues and meticulous symmetry that define this creative project. Orion’s neutral palette became a canvas for the vibrant colours and contrasts that characterise the film, allowing the production team to fully capture the whimsical, high-fashion atmosphere they envisioned.
Cape Town as the Star
The ad takes viewers on a journey through some of Cape Town’s most iconic spots. After the beautifully styled scenes at Orion, the Renault Kiger takes to the streets of Cape Town’s downtown, gliding past the colourful facades of Bo-Kaap. This vibrant neighbourhood, known for its multicoloured houses and rich cultural history, adds a unique visual texture to the commercial. The journey ends with the Kiger driving along the city’s breathtaking coastline, framed by palm trees and the expansive ocean.
A Quirky, Colourful, and Happy Production
The final product is a delightful blend of quirkiness and elegance, featuring decadently dressed characters and a playful use of colour and contrast. The end result is a visual masterpiece that feels both vibrant and joyful, perfectly aligning with Renault’s message of fun and innovation for their 2024 Kiger.
At Amazing Spaces, we’re proud to have contributed to this gorgeous production, showcasing the versatility of our locations and Cape Town’s global appeal as a film destination.
